Morning folks!! How is everyone’s day going so far? Personally, I’m so happy it’s Friday…the week went by fast but I have to admit I was dragging when I got up this morning. But getting up makes it all that much more easier when I know I have a fun weekend ahead for me and tonight I know I get to come home to my husband and finally relax…this past week he’s been super busy so some alone time with him tonight is very much appreciated 🙂
I typically like to wake up around 5am every morning to get to the gym by 6am to either take a group exercise class or do my own thing. We only live about 7 minutes from the gym but this girl’s gotta get her morning coffee in and some blog reading before her day can get started 🙂 And I also need time to wake the hubby up (multiple times ;)), make him breakfast, make and pack his lunch (yes I’m that wife, and yes I love every second of it and can’t wait to do it for our children), have coffee, get dressed, and then I’m off to the gym!
I always like to start my mornings off with an early, sweaty, endorphin cardio/strength workout to get my blood pumping – I love how it sets a positive, energetic tone for my day. Friday’s I especially like to do high intensity cardio such as a spinning class. Friday’s are the start to my weekends and are the more indulgent days of the week for me, so I like to balance it out with a nice cardio session while still being able to enjoy some indulgences that I know I’ll want to partake in such as a nice glass of wine or dessert. So that’s exactly what I did today, took an awesome interval style spinning class and followed it up with about 20 minutes of free weights. By the time I got home I was more than ready to put together a yummy breakfast!
Now that summer is here I’ve been on a serious smoothie kick lately. I love how refreshing, creamy, and sweet it is. The sweet part especially because I am a serious sweet lover and you’ll be seeing a lot of sweets around this blog 😉
This smoothie here contains:
1 1/2 cups Almond Milk
1 frozen banana (frozen fruit is key to a creamy smoothie)
1 scoop protein powder
1 tbsp. xantham gum (a natural food additive that makes the smoothie ridiculously thick…got this trick from Julie @ PB Fingers!)
1 tbsp. PB2 (powdered peanut butter)
And that tumbler I got at Bed Bath and Beyond, isn’t it cute?!
Today is what we like to call here in the corporate world “Casual Friday” so I wore a casual top in my favorite color and grey skinny jeans with wedges. Comfy and casual which I love about Friday’s.
And here’s a pic of my office where I sit everyday in case you’re interested 😉
Hope everyone has a happy Friday! Back to work I go….
