Ferry Building Marketplace Fun

Posted on Updated on

Hi everyone! Hope you’re all having a great Tuesday so far. Today I’ll post about what we did Sunday to recap the rest of our Anniversary celebration…if you missed what we did Saturday, you can read yesterday’s post.

I’m sure the title of the post gives you an instant indication that Sunday we spent the day at the Ferry Building Marketplace. It was a blast and one that we already have plans to recreate again in the near future. I had actually only been there one other time with my sister a couple years ago, but other than that this was my second time there and the first with the hubby!

So that we didn’t have to worry about driving, Giants game day traffic, and parking, we took the train up to the city and it was such a fun, relaxing way to travel into San Francisco. While we were waiting for the train it was around 12:30 and the train wasn’t coming until 1:00…we were planning on lunching in the city but that would have meant for a 2:00 lunch…no thank you. And grumbling tummies don’t make for happy travelers so we ran across the street to La Cumbre Taqueria and it was one of the best decisions we ever made. Hubby filled his belly with a beastly burrito and I got one of the best taco salads – it was ginormous and filled with losta black beans, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, salsa, and an amazing cream avocado sauce (pictures below for proof!).

Once we got there, we walked the 1.5 miles from the train station to the Ferry Building – roundtrip we clocked in a good 3.0 miles of walking for the day, whoo hoo! We then enjoyed a delicious array of food from the renowned Hog Island Oyster Co. and had by far the most delicious oysters ever. I should preface that by saying I absolutely despise oysters, so my liking them was pretty huge 😉

Then we continued our foodie fun by stopping into a couple markets and then a cute french pastry shop called Miette caught my eye and I spied delicious looking macaroons. I’ve never tried one before so we got one for each of us to enjoy, me the Vanilla and hubby the lavender chocolate one.

We then stopped into a wine market and bar called Ferry Plaza Wine Merchant where we enjoyed a round of drinks and a tasting plate called the Boccalone Salumi and Cowgirl Cheese Combo. It comprised of a Mt. Tam Cowgirl Creamery Cheese, an assortment of meats from Boccalone Salumeria, peach chutney, and the most delicious loaf of bread from Acme Bread Co. We then topped it off with a sweet treat from Ciao Bella Gelato, me the Cookie Dough and the hubby Coconut – It.was.epic 🙂

It was an absolute perfect way to celebrate our Anniversary and I can’t wait to celebrate Part 2 in a couple weekends on October 8th for the Hornblower Cruise during Fleet Week!

So without further ado, here are the pictures of our fun filled day at the Ferry Building Marketplace. Enjoy! (click on an image to see it bigger)

Questions:
Have you ever been to the Ferry Building Marketplace before? If so, what’s your favorite foodie or non-foodie shop there?

Do you ever enjoy taking the train or a different type of public transportation?

That sounds (and looks) like so much fun Shayla! And I love the pictures 🙂

There was an awesome train ride in Alaska that went through Denali National Park that was just gorgeous, other than that I have never been on a train! how weird I know!

Looks like a blast! We also went on a Sunday so we missed the infamous Farmer’s Market, but still loved looking at all the eateries, and wanted to try more than we did 😉

A day in SF sounds like such a nice way to celebrate 3 years!

      Thanks girly 🙂

I know I was hoping we’d catch the Farmer’s Market too but was bummed to find out it doesn’t happen on Sunday’s! Next time we’re definitely making a point to go on a Saturday, I have yet to catch that Farmer’s Market and I’ve heard it’s awesome 🙂
