I love fashion. I love it so much so that right out of high school I new I didn’t want to go to a University, at least not right away….no, I wanted to go learn anything and everything about fashion and immerse myself in it. So I applied and was accepted to The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in San Francisco. Also know as FIDM, and the ever popular institute that LC (aka Lauren Conrad from The Hills) went to. I majored in Fashion Merchandise Marketing and loved every second of it. I have to say those two years of my life were the most memorable, fun, best scholastic years of my life. Whenever I look back at that moment in my life, I always have a warm heart and butterflies floating inside me.
During that time I worked as a sales associate at Guess at my local shopping mall, and upon graduating from FIDM, I became a Merchant Technology Associate (aka a Buyer’s Assistant) for the corporate Macy’s West in San Francisco. Even though fashion management was my passion, and I believed this career path was going to be the key to my success, working as Macy’s just didn’t light that fire under me like I thought it was going to, and my passion started to turn stale. I didn’t want to be miserable and continue down this path as it just wasn’t fun and exciting for me anymore. I realized and came to learn and accept that your passion doesn’t have to necessarily translate into your job, for some it does, but me this was not an ideal career for me to pursue. So instead, I chose to pursue a career in management in an entirely different field, recruiting – which I am truly happy at. And now I like to fulfill my passion for fashion by reading the latest fashion blogs and magazines, and having fun in my own closet and clothes to keep that fire I have for fashion burning. And now, I further get to talk about and express this passion through this blog! As often as I can, I’d like to post my outfit for the day and talk about the latest trends. Feel free to give your insights and opinions to my looks, it will spark some fun and interesting conversations! 🙂
And in the name of fashion, here’s the man who coined the best fashion slogan ever: “Make It Work”…the one and only Tim Gunn
