Getting To Know Me…

Posted on

Happy Friday everyone!! I am especially excited it’s finally Friday since I have an awesome weekend lined up for me. But first, I want to say how much I appreciate your kind, thoughtful, encouraging comments on my last post. You all are the absolute best and I couldn’t ask for better friends…you all filled my heart so very much and I’m giving you all a big virtual hug through the screen πŸ™‚

So if any of you follow football and know that I’m a 49er fan then I’m sure you guessed that we had quite an exciting time celebrating last weekend…

The winning catch!!!

Coach Harbaugh & Vernon Davis celebrating his catch! Side note: can I just say how much I love Harbaugh…he has remarkably turned around this team into a winning one and you can just see how much love he has for his players – love it!

And on that note, I’m sure you guessed what we’re gearing up for this weekend…

We’re baaaaaack…. (said in Poltergeist voice πŸ˜‰ )

And you may remember that Todd is from New York?! Well, thankfully he’s a ‘9er fan and we’ll all be rooting for them together at my parents place…but I’m sure we’ll be having Facebook wars with my In-Laws who are true Giants fan πŸ˜›

And I’m very excited for tomorrow to have a girly day with my bestest friend – my sissy!! We have plans for a hair appointment (I’m just getting a trim), a yummy lunch, maybe squeeze in a yogurt trip to U Love or Nubi, and then a much needed pedicure…a definite self-indulgent day that I think we’re both in definite need of and deserving of πŸ˜‰ Other than that my week has been pretty uneventful (except for a very very special visit I had that you’ll see below) and still pretty busy at work but I have to say I’ve been lacking the motivation these past couple days…I blame it on the crummy weather, blech!

And with that, since I don’t have much to post about and my brain is lacking willpower to do a lot of thinking, I thought it’d be fun to participate in this survey that’s making it’s rounds in the blog world. I recently saw it on Tina and Ashley’s blog and knew I had to take part in it since I love getting to know a bit more about bloggers and thought you would too!

1) What is one of your favorite ways to spend a Saturday?

With my hubby and family – love for us to have a date night or spend it with my family at their place getting into shenanigans and having awesome quality time together ❀

2) List your top three favorite TV shows.

* Real Housewives Of….(every season although my fav is Beverly Hills and Orange County!)
* Top Chef
* The Bachelor/Bachelorette

3) Would you rather be in pictures or take them?

Both! I love having pictures of myself with my loved ones, family and friends and love taking pictures of them!

4) Why do you blog?

My initial reason (and still is) for starting this blog was to document our journey in trying to conceive, then our pregnancy journey, and then our new life as a family of 3. I especially wanted to journal this very important and exciting journey in our lives so that family and friends could follow along and keep up to date with what was going on in our lives. I also love blogging about my past struggles with disordered eating, overexercising, and Hypothalamic Amenorrhea because I feel a lot of women out there could benefit from hearing my story and experiences and could learn a lot based on what I’ve gone through. I hope to help just one woman out there…that would mean the world to me. I also am so thankful to be a part of this blogging community because I have met and made friends with so many amazing ladies and formed very special relationships with each one and am so grateful for that πŸ™‚

5) Share five websites that you visit regularly…

* Facebook
* Fertile Thoughts Forum
* Gmail
* Google Reader
* Twitter

6) If you could have lunch with one person from your Twitter list who would it be?

Britney Spears – don’t laugh πŸ˜›

7) List a few of your favorite snacks.

* Fage Greek Yogurt with Peanut Butter Puffins
* Frozen Yogurt
* Apple with Skippy Chunky Natural Peanut Butter or TJ’s Cookie Butter (!!)
* Veggies and chips with hummus
* Clif Mojo Bars

8 ) Do you have a pet? If so, what kind?

Nope! Although we really (someday!) want to get a bulldog πŸ™‚

9) Which three material possessions would you struggle to live without?

* iPod
* cell phone (soon to be iPhone!!)
* laptop (soon to be iPad!!)

10) What’s your favorite drink?

A mimosa

11) Do you enjoy cooking?

Sometimes – depends on what I’m cooking. If it’s eggs or paninis then I love cooking, anything else, not so much πŸ˜‰

12) Do you have children?

Nope – but we’re working on it and hope to have a wee one very very soon!!

13) What are your favorite hobbies?

* Exercising
* Shopping
* Baking
* Wine tasting
* Reading blogs and blogging
* Spending quality time with my hubby, family and friends

14) Would you consider yourself to be shy or outgoing?

It depends on the situation – I’m much more talkative and outgoing one-on-one and am an open book to that person, but in a group setting (except for group fitness classes since I used to teach) I become super shy. I used to be very very shy in every situation when I was younger and finally broke out of my shell when I became a fitness instructor.

15) If you could change one thing about yourself, what would you change?

Not to piggy-back to question #14 but I would love to be more outgoing in a group setting like my dad or my hubby who can strike up a conversation with anyone at anytime – I really admire their natural wittiness and sense of humor and wish I had more of that in me. But lately as I’ve gotten older I’ve stopped caring what other people think of me and just say whatever comes out of my mouth even if it’s not that funny – oh well! πŸ˜‰

16) Who is your favorite actor/actress?

Based on acting chops definitely Meryl Streep – she is just so amazing and such a phenomenal actress. But based on looks Angelina Jolie – I know some love her or hate her, I love her – her face is flawless.

17) What’s the coolest thing you’ve done this week?

By far it was spending the day with Miss Shanna and as always it was such a wonderful time. Although it was even more special because I got to meet her adorable, precious 2 1/2 week old son Sawyer. We caught up on some much needed girl talk along with the many details of motherhood which I loved learning about, all while holding her lil soybean (her nickname for him – love!) And I had the privelage of carrying him in the Bjorn while we walked her dog Naava…it was so wonderful and it skyrockted my baby fever 10-fold!

And he’s sportin’ the lil monkey beanie I got him – eek! ❀

18) Do you live near your family or far from them?

I thankfully live only 10 minutes away from my family. Although 3,000 miles away from my in-laws which is bummer, but its a great excuse to take a trip to New York!! πŸ˜‰

19) List three of your talents.

* Am able to push my physical capabilities and strengths to the limits
* I’m a good judge of ones character
* I have a pretty good sense of direction

20) What is your greatest attribute?

This is a tough question because I’m continually working on myself in becoming a better person to my loved ones, family and friends – I am a horrible procrastinator and get defensive quite easily – just ask the hubby πŸ˜‰ But if I had to answer I’d say I love big – with my full, entire heart ❀

Well that’s it!! I hope you enjoyed getting to a know me a bit more and I hope you all have a wonderful Friday and a fantastic weekend!

Goooo ‘9ers!!!!! πŸ™‚

What was the coolest part of your week?
Would you consider yourself a shy or outgoing person?
Any fun plans for this weekend?!

A Fabulous, Delicious Weekend

Posted on

Hi everyone!! Happy Tuesday and I hope you’re having a great week so far πŸ™‚

I most definitely am – much better than last week – especially since coming off from such a fabulous, delicious weekend! And with that, let me go ahead and recap it for you all…

As I mentioned in Friday’s post – my sis, her boyfriend, Todd, and I had big plans to all get together to go out to our absolute fav place and get into some shenanigans πŸ˜‰ I’m so bummed I didn’t get many good pics from the night (too busy having fun!), but the evening started off at our place with a champagne toast courtesy from our Chandon shipment and some venison Todd cooked up – it was the actual venison that Todd hunted for while we were back in New York for Thanksgiving. Thoughts? This was my first time trying it and I admit, I wasn’t a huge fan. I’m a huge texture person, so while the flavor was good, the texture just wasn’t my cup of tea – a lil too “gamey” for me. I think for now I’ll stick with the cow…and the thought of eating bambi gets to me…sorry!

Oh and first, can’t leave out a pic of my outfit for the evening!

I have to say – knee high boots (my new ones!), a flowy tank, skinny jeans, and a leather jacket is at the top of my list for all time favorite outfits…

So after our champagne and venison tasting, it was off to B Street & Vine for some more fabulous good times and deliciousness.

Again, didn’t snap any pics except for some of the usual shenanigans that ensued…

in the cab…

And our foodie aftermath…

And the delicious wine that was consumed…****

Saturday was filled with more fabulousness in that I got to spend the day with the lovely Shanna. As always, we had great conversations together and I love spending time with her. I especially couldn’t wait to see her baby’s nursery and I am in love – so precious and it’s just absolutely perfect – hop on over to her blog to get a sneak peek of it in picture and video form πŸ™‚

So, not only has she reignited the baby fever (that was already) in me, but she also sparked quite the baking and doggie bug in me, so much so that I was about to kidnap her fur baby (absolutely precious!) πŸ˜‰ And then we got into baking up quite the deliciousness…pecan pie cookies!!!

Given the fact that there are now only 4 cookies left in that container goes to show just how delicious they are. And the deliciousness and fun continued onto Starbucks where we got our fav Skinny Peppermint Mocha’s and a special treat of Gingerbread Biscotti that we shared – to which Shanna had the great idea of dipping it into our Mocha’s – amazing. I even had to get it again with Todd on Sunday – I’m hooked.

And Shanna and I had some interesting entertainment at Starbucks in the form of some strange men who kept looking over at us – I said to Shanna I felt like I was in the twilight zone, haha. Do you ever have that where everyone around you is just acting…weird? I blame it on the full moon that made it’s appearance that night πŸ˜‰

And I have a feeling this delicious trend is going right through into this week since the adorable Ashley and I are doing a little barter.

So in exchange of me sending her a jar of this…

and a new jar of this…

That’s my jar that I made overnight oats in – highly recommended!!

…I’ll be getting some homemade cookies from her – can’t wait! They’re her hubby’s fav and I believe that any cookie that’s favored by the husband is a definite winner in my book πŸ˜‰

Oh, and can’t forget, I found these beauties while in Mollie Stone’s getting the Biscoff…

I had never tried them before and I’m a definite fan – they’re just as delicious as you’d imagine

It was such a great weekend, a fabulous and delicious one indeed πŸ˜‰

Hope you’re all having a great day and I’ll see you all back here soon! xo

How was your weekend a fabulous or delicious one?
What’s your all-time favorite outfit and what pieces does it consist of that makes it your favorite?

A Very Special Weekend

Posted on Updated on

Hi everyone!! Sorry to be MIA for so long – I’ve been getting caught up on work and errands before I leave for my trip to New York. And I just wanted to give you all a heads up, so you’re all not worrying about me ;), that I’m disconnecting from the computer for a bit. With our trip to New York and then celebrating Thanksgiving with my side of the family I’m going to take this time to relax, so no blog posts or commenting on blogs will be happening from me for a couple weeks. So until then, today will be my last blog post and once back home and at work I will definitely have an awesome recap of New York and our Thanksgiving – can’t wait! πŸ™‚

This past weekend was a very special one – it was spent with a very special friend and family and those two things are pretty much what equals living the good life means to me – along with some very yummy food too πŸ˜‰

Friday I spent the day with a very special new friend of mine – the beautiful Shanna and her adorable baby bump πŸ˜‰

Shanna brought up a great point on her blog that really resonated with me and we touched on it a bit together that day – that now older, out of school, and days spent mostly at work – it’s quite difficult to make friends, and find girlfriends that are truly nice and have a lot in common with. Well, I hit the jackpot with this girl because she is truly such a sweet and genuine person and I’m loving the friendship we’re building and will continue to grow – we have so much in common and have a great connection, and I’m very fortunate to have her as a new friend πŸ™‚

As you can see above, we started our day with frozen yogurt at U Love – it was delish and we were loving every minute of it. I got Peanut Butter and English Toffee fro yo with an animal cracker, nilla wafers, kit kat pieces, snickers, brownie pieces, some M&M’s, peanut butter chips…and I think that’s it?!

We then continued the fun to Bella Nails to get pedicures and relax in the best massage chairs – it was so relaxing and an awesome way to get in some girl chat and learn more about one another. Then we stopped by Starbucks for something to warm our bellies since it was rainy and chilly out – I remember Shanna had blogged about a Skinny Peppermint Mocha that she loved so I knew that’s what I had to get. It was delish and definitely didn’t taste Skinny at all – I think it’ll definitely be a new winter staple of mine πŸ˜‰

Next up was the grocery store to pick up a couple ingredients for a lil baking extravaganza. Shanna has this amazing recipe for Pumpkin Raisin Bread Pudding and this was our first time making it so it was fun to tackle and taste something new together πŸ™‚

It was absolutely delish and we ate our pieces while relaxing on the couch doing what girls do best – chit chatting and watching Giada on Food Network πŸ™‚ And if you want the recipe, check out Shanna’s blog this Saturday for the deets!

Saturday was spent just lounging around and doing errands – it was pretty relaxing since hubby was getting ready for his big Men’s Health Urbanathlon race on Sunday! It was so much fun and I’m so very proud of him for such a huge accomplishment!

But first, lemme back up a bit! So the race started at 7am and we had to be there at 6am so that the participants could start warming up. My wonderful sister joined us for the day to help me root Todd on and keep me company, heehee. She’s the absolute best and a good sport for meeting us at the house at 5am – on a Sunday nonetheless. Love you sissy! πŸ™‚

It was dark and chilly, but thankfully I had my Uggs keeping me warm…

Sorry for the blurriness!

But the time actually started going by pretty fast and before we knew it friends of ours and trainers at our gym Equinox started trickling through and before we knew it, it was time for the boys to start warming up!

Gettin’ ready…

And he’s off!!!

Sissy and I had about an hour to kill until it was time to walk to the finish so we stopped by Starbuck’s…a lil something to warm us up and get my second Skinny Peppermint Mocha of the season! Told ya it’d become a staple of mine πŸ˜‰

Along with some amazing Biscoff Cookies that my sis had brought – you must try them. Especially dipped in coffee, pure bliss πŸ™‚

After our coffee we walked the couple miles to the finish line and after about 10 minutes of waiting we spotted the hubby!!

Go Todd Go!!!

Whoo hoo!!! Finish time: 1:33:09 – 10.2 mile course of running and obstacle courses

So proud!

And then what does any sport event end with – beer!!! We enjoyed a few before heading home…

We then headed to my parents house for some food and football action – go Niners!!! 8-1! πŸ™‚

And caught some photos of the amazing sunset we had that night…

It really was such a very special weekend and I couldn’t have asked for more – it was the perfect way to end my weekend here before heading to New York where I’ll be getting in even more family quality time.

I hope you all have an amazing Thanksgiving and if traveling, I wish you all a safe and fun holiday!!! See you all back here in a couple weeks πŸ™‚

What makes a very special weekend for you?
Are you traveling these next couple weeks?
Any fun plans for Thanksgiving?

Variety is the “All Spice” in Life

Posted on Updated on

Hi everyone and happy Thursday! So excited we’re inching closer and closer to the weekend…I feel like this week flew by but I think part of it had to do with a special night out last night with a certain special someone πŸ˜‰

Me and Shanna…and the baby bump!! πŸ™‚

Not only is Shanna gorgeous and the most cutest pregnant lady ever, but she is so very sweet…she even gave me a lil goodie bag that was so very sweet of her…

Spiced Pumpkin Candle and Shanna’s Fluffy Pumpkin Dark Chocolate Chip Cookies

And I have the candle keeping my friend company…

You have all got to jump over to her blog and check out her post (link above) for these cookies…right when I opened the bag I immediately took a bite and they were absolutely delicious. I enjoyed the other half this morning with a nice cup of coffee and Todd enjoyed the other…he was in pumpkin heaven too…thank you Shanna! ❀

So last night we met up for dinner at All Spice, a contemporary Indian restaurant that we both had never been to before. This was my first time dining at an Indian restaurant and let me tell you, it was the best first time experience ever. The food was absolutely delicious and if all Indian food is like this, then I am definitely a convert. We loved the food so very much and already we can’t wait to go again…maybe next time the hubbies can join us πŸ˜‰

First we started with an Amuse Bouche, compliments of the chef. I forget what it was called, but it was like a tomato flavor type soup…whatever it was it was delicious and instead of using that tiny spoon we could have easily gulped it down!

We wanted to be able to try many different dishes and flavors so we decided to share 2 appetizers and 2 entrees, a perfect idea and the ones we chose we amazing.

First up, the Ode to My Wife – Roasted red and golden beets served with lollo rosso lettuce and fresh dill goat cheese ice cream

And the Indian Bread Fritter “Ma Mere” – Stuffed with mushrooms, potatoes and ciligini served over stewed chickpeas

Then for our entrees we shared the Hara Kebab – Spinach dumplings served with clove and nutmeg-brown butter and aged parmesan

And the Tamarind Eggplant Dosa – Crisp rice and lentil crepe with smoky eggplant, peanuts and goat cheese, roasted garlic tomato chutney

We joked that it looked like an Indian Burrito…it was ginormous!!

All paired with some Roti…loved this stuff!

We made sure to not overfill our bellies with delicious Indian food since we had big plans to top off our evening with, what else than, fro yo!

Shanna’s on the left and mine on the right

Mine had French Vanilla frozen yogurt, cookie dough pieces, animal cracker(!!), oreo pieces, peanut M&M’s, mini M&M’s, and chocolate covered raisins. And the best part, Shanna’s brilliant idea of topping it off with Marshmallow Fluff syrup and caramel syrup, yum! πŸ™‚

We had an absolutely blast and like last time, we could have easily talked for many more hours…to continue the fun we already have big plans for our next date to involve pedicures (since we both absolutely love foot massages) and of course more fro yo πŸ˜‰

Alrighty folks I better jet, I’m behind on work since I had a dentist appointment this morning, ick…thankfully no cavities, whoo hoo! See you back here tomorrow and hope you all have a great day πŸ™‚

What’s your favorite type of cuisine? I really really love Italian!
Is there a certain cuisine you’ve never tried before?
I want to try Thai and Korean
Have you ever met a blogger in person before? If so, who?!
